Engaging Early Childhood Learning
ATSR Planners Architects Engineers transformed the North Branch District Education Center with a Kindergarten addition and Early Childhood Learning renovation, creating vibrant, future-ready spaces.
Key Highlights of this Project:
Expanded Learning Environment:
- Added six new classrooms and renovated three existing spaces.
- Designed a secure courtyard playground with abundant natural light.
- Included a large motor room and a child-centered media area with a “learning tree.”
Building-Wide Modernization:
- Complete interior “rebuild” with new windows.
- Updated HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, boilers, chiller) with a focus on energy efficiency.
- New electrical distribution and low voltage technology.
- Modern finishes and new furniture throughout.
Student-Centered Design:
- Implemented a pilot program for flexible furniture, giving staff choice and ownership.
- Incorporated built-in colored window eaves for varied seating and dramatic play.
- Used vibrant color throughout floors, walls, ceilings, and architectural features, creating an engaging and inspiring environment.
